5th Annual Liga MAC Jazz Fest

What a Success!
The 5th ANNUAL LIGA MAC JAZZFEST, presented by DREAM HOMES OF CABO, was again a smashing success!! It is proof of how much a small dedicated group of Mexican, American and Canadian women can accomplish when their goal is set to raise money to help the local families and children of San Jose del Cabo and to have a roaring good time while doing this! The JAZZ FEST took place on Sunday, March 29, 2009, at the Tropicana Jockey Club on a beautiful sunny afternoon from 3 PM to 8 PM. Fabulous music, food, conversation, and both Silent and Live Auctions were enjoyed by all.
The incredible musical line-up for the day began with the Mexican group SHALOM, featuring Ivan Ocampo on keyboard, Raul Herrera on percusion, Estevan “Susana” Sanchez on drums and vocals, with Director Jorge “Tito” Rodriguez on electric bass. Outstanding! Next up was, local favorite, SEXTO SENTIDO, featuring Director Howie Clifton on saxophone, Norma Sanchez on vocals, Paul Clade on guitar, Julio Cesar de la Cruz on keyboard & bass guitar, and Luciano Callado on drums… and the dancing began! The DIEGO RAMIREZ group
followed with a couple of fabulous straight ahead jazz pieces…. thank you Diego Ramirez, Julio Cesar de la Cruz, Luciano Callado, Howie Clifton, and Paul Clade! As always, they were then joined by the wildly popular, DALINE JONES! She performed some terrific “left of jazz central” pop and dance songs, and by this time EVERYONE was not only dancing but singing and remembering all the words to songs like, “Can’t Take My Eyes Off Of You.”and the audience joined in a chorus of “I Love You Baby!!!” FABULOUS AND FUN AND JUST NOT ENOUGH!!! By this time the musicians had the stage not simply warmed up, but thoroughly hot and ready for the HEADLINER, MARCIA BALL AND BAND! Marcia Ball, on keyboard, was joined by Don Bennetto on bass, Thad Scott on Saxophone, Andrew Nafziger on guitar, and Corey Keller on
Drums. The group simply continued the crescendo of music excitement with nearly an hour of “peace, love and barbeque” style rhythm and blues!! The dancing was crazy and contagious, and enjoyed by all!! What could possibly follow all these acts and keep it all going at such a high peak? LOS TRILLIZOS with their endless energy and infectious Cuban flair!! Thank you ,Victor Narciso González Hernández, Ramón de Jesús González Hernández, Fulgencio Narciso González Hernández and Pedro Narciso González Hernández, plus the Cuban dancers, for helping everyone stay in the mood!!
It was great fun and a remarkable event!. Five fabulous hours of music, in a beautiful setting along with a delicious Mexican buffet and drinks…. All to support Liga MAC to continue to help low income families in crisis in San Jose del Cabo.

Liga MAC Christmas Fiesta at the Shoppes at Palmilla 6p.m-9p.m.
Liga MAC is teaming up again this year with the Shoppes at Palmilla to kick-off the “Spirit of Giving” this Holiday Season. Enjoy an evening at the plaza with a glass of wine or soft drink & Christmas Treats, carols by Liga MAC’s youth choir “Los Angeles”, live music, fashion show, and raffle items from the local shops.
Admission is an unwrapped toy for a child aged 1-12. Gifts will be presented to children of low-income families on Christmas Eve at Liga MAC’s Centro de Apoyo, located in the colonia of Zacatal.
